Our Vision

The Selkirk Story

A physician owned institution built around the conviction that better governance produces better care, and that North Idaho deserves exactly that.

Built from Conviction, Not Convention.

Selkirk Center began with a straightforward observation: the most consequential decisions in healthcare are routinely made by administrators who are not clinicians, and patients bear the consequences.

In North Idaho, a rapidly growing region with documented gaps in specialty healthcare, the founders saw an opportunity to do something different. Not merely to build a hospital, but to build one governed entirely by the physicians who practice in it.

When physicians own the institution, the incentive structure changes. Clinical decisions stay clinical. Protocols are set by the people executing them. And the community gains an institution with a genuine, long term stake in its health outcomes.

Physician Leadership. Operational Discipline.

Selkirk Center is designed as a de novo specialty hospital, built from the ground up, not converted from an existing facility. That means every design decision, every system selection, and every governance structure reflects clinical priorities rather than inherited legacy constraints.

Our physicians are not employees. They are owners who set the standard of care, govern the institution, and bear direct accountability for outcomes. This is the model that independent specialty hospitals have demonstrated repeatedly to be more efficient, more patient responsive, and more financially resilient than the system employed alternative.

The Full Arc of Care.

Selkirk Center is built around the conviction that a physician owned institution — one with real governance authority, not just a branding exercise — produces meaningfully better outcomes. One governance structure. One clinical philosophy. One institution accountable for the full arc of care it delivers.

The clinical program is being developed in direct collaboration with the physicians who will own and govern the institution. Service lines are not being published publicly, as the program will reflect the physicians who build it.

North Idaho. The Right Place.

Rathdrum and the surrounding Kootenai County region represent one of the fastest growing markets in the Pacific Northwest. Population growth has outpaced the expansion of healthcare infrastructure, particularly in specialized women's services. Selkirk Center is positioned to address that gap with a permanent, physician governed institution designed for long term community benefit.

The site is a master planned master planned campus that accommodates the hospital anchor, medical office space, wellness uses, and complementary residential and retail, a healthcare district, not just a facility.

"When those who know the human body best make the decisions, the system aligns with what truly matters: outcomes, transparency, and time with the patient."

A Standard of Care Worth Investing In.

Selkirk Center is structured to serve three audiences simultaneously: patients who deserve care delivered with dignity and precision; physicians who deserve an institution that respects their expertise and their time; and investors who deserve a project with sound fundamentals, experienced leadership, and a clear path to operational and financial performance.

Those interests are not in conflict. At a well governed physician owned hospital, they reinforce each other.
